Our garden had some great produce! Especially our peaches - again! We canned 2 dozen jars, and a dozen jars of freezer jam (which Matt did the freezer jam all by himself!) We have also given away so many peaches, but still have enough to can over 24 more jars..... it's insane.
Canning peaches kind of consumed our free time but we really enjoyed doing it.
This has been a long, patience inducing week. My dad finally went in for his triple bypass surgery on Wednesday. My mom had to go in with my dad very very early in the morning to get him all settled and checked in. By about 8am, my mom contacted me that he was finally headed back for surgery and she was coming over for breakfast. After a quick breakfast, we headed back to St. Als.
Matt stayed home all day to take care of the kids while I sat at the hospital with my mom.
The surgery was long and after the previous nights lack of sleep, mom and I were feeling a little goofy. Thank heavens for snap chat keeping up occupied. AND Arrowlyn, she was the best baby and made us laugh so hard a few times.
Matt and Zeplin came to visit including my dad's sister Dawna. We were all there when the doctor finally came out to tell us that Dad came through surgery nicely. He has an enlarged heart (which is fine) but his veins are very tiny so it took them awhile to find good veins to use for the transplant. Everybody left by the time we could go back and see him. I went with my mom although I really wasn't sure if I wanted to see him after such a dramatic surgery.
Arrow was sweet and snuggle into me as we turned into his room. I wanted to cry so bad but I knew I needed to be strong so I kept it together until I got home. He was all hooked up to so many machines, still had his breathing tube in, and was white as a sheet. The nurse said he wouldn't remember us being there and she was going to slowly lower his sedation through the night. My mom and I left shortly after.
The past couple days have been a blur. My mom has been at the hospital almost the whole time, leaving occasionally to come get food. I've been trying to be as informed as I can since I was there and have been relaying information to my siblings - each of them trying to be patient as well waiting for more information.
Then on Friday morning, things took a turn. My dad's heart beat went irregular so they had to use shock therapy to get it going again. Fortunately that worked. But they told my mom when she left for the day that things can always change.
Daddy will be there through the weekend and into most of next week.
{THREE:} Visitors
This week, we had a few fun visitors. One of them being my nephew Jarom. He's my oldest sister, Rebecca's 2nd child. He spent a whole summer in Utah on a ranch making money to help him on his mission that he hopes to go on next year. Once work was done on the ranch he came to Idaho to spend some time with his family in Idaho. We got to share a few days with him too.
Then on Thursday, Gentry, an old friend from high school came to Idaho from Texas tons pend a few weeks and we got to meet up for a few hours. We realized we hadn't seen each other since her wedding almost 10 years ago and decided that was much too long ago. She has 3 beautiful daughters. Her middle daughter, Aria and Zeplin were instant best friends! It was so great to catch up with her - I wish we had more time. Now that my sister is moving to Texas, hopefully we can make a trip to visit them too.
{FOUR:} Zeplin
I cannot think of a single thing about this kid that isn't great from this week! He was the best big brother, big helper, and sweetheart during all the moments I needed him to be. Especially with his Papa in the hospital, he was a great boy.
{FIVE:} Arrowlyn >>-----> 23 Weeks
Arrowlyn has been the perfect companion this week. She's followed me everywhere and has been so sweet through all the new places I've been dragging them to. I joke with everyone that of course she's going to come everywhere with me if she wants to eat....
She's not been sleeping well. We've found that if she sees me, then she expects to eat. but if Matt goes to give her a pacifier, she will go right back to sleep. Fortunately I'm still sleeping upstairs because of my back so it's easier for me to go back to sleep when I wake up with her but it would be nice if she's start sleeping through the night again like she did when she was a new born.
Speaking of eating, this girl is a lunch mouth. Besides the boob, her favorite thing to eat it a mixture of Peas, Green Beans, and Asparagus. She ate the entire big bottle. We have to either cover her head to toe in towels or make sure we have enough time to give her a bath after eating because she's messy. Her most hated food right now is Apples & Pumpkin. She literally spit it back in my face. Jarom was with us and he couldn't stop laughing when she did this.
She's starting to get more personality. Although she's a very easy going baby and loves to just sit back, watch and observe her surroundings, she also loves to dance and move! When you put her on your knee as if she's riding a horse, she will swing her legs back and forth so that she can get a rocking motion. Occasionally she will rock backwards as hard as she can so to bounce off your body (unless you're Matt and have nothing for her to bounce off of.)
She's is also a rolling fool - she's spins in circles and moves all around the floor without actually crawling. We are still working on sitting up - she's not great - but she's getting better.
Arrowlyn's love for her daddy is beyond measure. She is constantly smiling at him, touching his face and just waiting for him to give her just an ounce of attention and she goes crazy with smiles and happiness!
