{Final Five, the Pomeranian, All About Arrow & Zeplin}

I hate to do this but I'm struggling with keeping up with weekly blogging. Not only because I don't have time but because I really don't want to. I have so many other fun things that we do on a daily basis than for me to carve time to blog every single week.

Now that Arrowlyn is a year old, I'm going to start blogging monthly about her so expect a new blog post about Arrow on the 23rd of every month.
I will post a monthly updates on Zeplin on the 18th of every month.

Of course, whenever we go on an adventure, I will post about that. I want to do a monthly photo dump and update of our family at the end of each month... Basically, I will blog when I can or when I have something worth blogging about.

If you don't want to keep checking my blog to see if I've posted something, subscribe and you will get an email with my new posts whenever I blog something! (Right side "Follow By Email") I won't know if you signed up.

{ONE:} the Pomeranian
{A}  I was at the right place at the right time for this little runaway. He was running along the road at my parents covered in mud, feces and sticks. He came right to me, hopped in the car and traveled with us while I took him door to door to find his owner then to a vet to see if he was microchipped. He wasn't and no one had called the humane societies to report him missing.
His breath was about the only awful thing about him. The vet confirmed all his teeth were rotten and would need to be pulled.

I brought him to another Pet Hospital who kindly checked him out for free. They confirmed his age and gave him good checks for his health but his teeth were in desperate need for attention.

They sent me home with some antibiotics and food and we bathed him, fed him and loved him. He slept under our bed all night which made us sad but he seemed most comfortable there.

I was beginning to think that he was going to be our puppy since we weren't able to find his owners and people drop their pets off at Lake Lowell all the time to get disposed of (horrible people) so I took him to a groomer and got him cleaned up. While he was there, an elderly man called me with a quiver in his voice and asked me if I had his Pomeranian still. He sounded upset so I assured him that I did have him and he was being groomed and I would be happy to take him back that afternoon.

We learned his name was Bingo and we took him back to his owners who lived in a cul-de-sac behind my house (1 of the only 2 houses that I didn't knock on their door!) The older gentleman was so kind and grateful to have his puppy back and Bingo seemed thrilled to be back too.
I stood in his entry way and talked to him about how lovely his puppy was and I was grateful to have been where I was to rescue him because he would have most definitely gotten hit by a car. I learned that his wife just passed away and this little dog was his best buddy.

I'd glad we were able to give him back to his owner. The man paid me for the food and medication and grooming and even gave us a little gift, with the acknowledgement that it was for our little girl's birthday since we returned him on her b-day.

It was fun to have a little dog running around the house but I'm happy he's home.

{B} Now to talk about our Pomeranian... Yes, you read that right - OUR. Matt and I were both feeling so bummed about Bingo that we started looking at puppies on Craigslist. It wasn't really like we wanted one, but it's always fun to look. Then I found this adorable PomChi for super cheap. It was Arrowlyn's birthday party and we got this wild idea that it would be so cute to give her a puppy for her birthday.... So Matt drove all the way to Mountain Home to pick up our new puppy - Dexter.

He's pretty cute and fun for Zeplin. I'm tired of cleaning up his poop and pee because he still struggles to go on the pee pad consistently. It's gross. I'm stocked up on clorox wipes and swiffer sweeper mopping pads.

Arrowlyn decided this morning that she was afraid of him. He's chewing and nibbled on her toes so she freaked out. Hopefully they can get along soon.

{TWO:} Arrowlyn's Smash Cake
On Arrowlyn's birthday, Matt and I bought her a cake and I turned it into a Smash Cake photoshoot. It was a fabulous time! Arrowlyn wasn't a huge fan of the cake and when her foot accidentally went in it, that was it for her. Her pretty dress got dirty and her hands were a mess and she had had enough. But we had fun! I'm sure she will love cake eventually.

We ended up taking her to Red Robin, as we have done with Zeplin for all his birthdays. Our waitress was not very nice and ignored me when I told her it was our daughters first birthday. A kind man walked passed us and couldn't stop raving over our daughters beauty and he asked us how old she was. When we told him it was her birthday, he jumped at the opportunity to get his co-workers together to sing happy birthday and give her a small treat! It made our night!

{THREE:} Arrowlyn's Birthday Party
We had a fun little birthday party for Arrow on the 25th (Saturday.) It was mostly family with a couple friends. We started at 1pm and were so happy to have people there who we love and love our little Arrow!

It was a great birthday party to celebrate our daughter!!!

{FOUR:}  Zeplin
Zeplin is getting really good with his Pre-K learning that I've been helping him with it at home. He knows all 8 planets and all the colors of the rainbow in order. He knows our address in case of an emergency and he's learning our phone numbers. I've been so proud of his counting skills. He can count to 30 without help and can get to 100 with help. He loves to do addition, and is working on subtraction. Z is excellent at writing his letters. He can write them just by looking at the what the letter looks like.
He's also really good at phonics. I love when he comes up to me and says things like, “Eh Eh Eh, Elephant starts with E!!” or “Da, Da, Da, Dog starts with D” Occasionally he uses big words too! We want to work on teaching him to read through the summer. It is our ultimate goal for him. He is rocking his sight words too. He can read DOG and CAT and BATH.

We finally decided on preschool! There is a really good preschool less than 2 miles from our house that his best friend, Trevor, goes to but they are kind of expensive for a monthly rate. Then I remembered a girl I play volleyball with put her daughter in a preschool even closer to my house so I went to check it out last week and instantly fell in love! It's an entire school setting. She teaches them all the basics and beyond. She even focuses on 1 on 1 time. I was just so beyond thrilled that I wrote her a check right then!

I was just so torn over sending him to preschool. I have plenty of time to teach him myself and he's actually retaining so much information so quickly that I thought he would get bored at school. I kind of felt like I was failing as a mom for not keeping him home and teaching him myself.. This was, of course, personal. I wouldn't think that of any mom who took their children to preschool.

Matt and I talked about it all the time. He felt torn too because he believes we can adequately teach our son the things he needs to learn for kindergarten AND use that money towards karate and other activities for him. But regardless, I'm so happy with my decision to take him to this preschool. It's still a little spendy and I will use my money from JFC to pay for it.

Zeplin had his 4 year checkup and he's basically tall and skinny. The doctor made the comment that just in talking to him, he's much more academically advanced than most 4 year olds. He was impressed in his wit and conversation. We are too.
He also got his shots and didn't even cry!! We were so proud of him and how brave he was!

{FIVE:} Arrowlyn ➸ 12 Months
I can't even find the words to adequately describe the way my daughter has changed my life. And, seriously, how has it been a year? This entire year has flown by so quickly.

Arrowlyn is still crawling around and refusing to pull herself up, use her legs and feet and even let us try to prop her up to stand. It will be fun when she's finally walking but I'm happy with her just crawling for now.  We see the doctor tomorrow and I want to talk to him about her pure hatred for using her legs to stand though.

Five more teeth are starting to come in. Those top teeth are giving her a heck of a time but she's handling the pain okay. It obviously hurts and she's drooling a lot so we have to changer he clothes at least 2x a day. I can't imagine how painful it must be to have teeth break through and it makes me sad to see her so upset. She has 4 on bottom now though.

Arrow sleeps 10-14 hours and if she ever wakes up in the middle of the night (which is basically never), she will always put herself back to sleep. Since I started working, we've been having to put her to bed at 7pm so she will get enough sleep. She doesn't get grumpy when she's tired but you can just tell she's exhausted. Completely opposite of me though - I have to sleep or I hate life. I'm a little bummed about her night time because summer is coming and we like to go out late and do fun things. It'll be interesting for sure.

Arrowlyn LOVES books, which is why she got so many for her birthday! She's becoming more hands on with trying to learn things. She learns with love and kisses and hugs while Zeplin learned more with play and constant teaching. Arrow doesn't do all the things that Zeplin did when he was 1 (i.e., animal sounds, mimic noises and sign language) but Arrowlyn is my social butterfly who loves to say HI and wave at people. My kids are so completely opposite of each other.
