YAY for summer!! June was such a warm month which meant we planned lots of outdoor activities!
◈ Our darling Dexter lost his manhood on the very first day of the month. Matt took him to our vet bright and early in the morning and we picked him up that afternoon. He was so cute and groggy. We also took him in to get his first real haircut and groom. He's such a cute, sweet puppy and we love him so much.
Speaking of puppies. Bella and Tedd are doing well and are loving summer time too. Bella LOVES the water and playing in the sprinklers and Tedd just loves having us outside 24/7.
My sweet friend Kellie came into town for her birthday and to celebrate we went to Matador and then did a bike bar downtown with her family! It was fantastic just being around so many energetic and fun people. We were out until midnight so I was exhausted but it really was such a fun time!!
Saturday morning was Emma's birthday and it was a blast! We had to leave a little sooner than we wanted because we calculated when the party would be over and made plans to go to see Wonder Woman. Matt took Arrowlyn home to nap while my mom and I took Zeplin to see the movie.
After the movie, Matt brought Arrowlyn back to the Village and we let the kids play in the splash pad.
We later went to dinner with mom and split ways to head home and play card games with the brothers and some friends. We were up late again but I slept hard that night!
Zeplin had the time of his life playing with Jayden and goofing off in the water with all the boys. Arrowlyn garnished some attention with her adorable knee walk and sassy attitude.
Matt and I were in heaven snuggling with Tinzlee and chatting with loved ones in the McFarland/Greenwood clan!
We stayed until fairly late in the afternoon - well past Arrow's nap time and she was exhausted. We made a quick stop to my parents and then headed home, where we enjoyed each other for a short while until bed time!
It was a beautiful day!
◈ Schools Out For Summer!! - for my mom. and We are loving having her around more! We've been able to spend time with both my parents this month.
One particular night, just after my birthday, I got a late night text asking where I was at. I was trying to go to bed but they reminded me that we had planned to go out after volleyball to celebrate mine and another gal's birthday. I got dressed and played volleyball for a little over an hour and then we headed to Shari's for a treat - well, breakfast! hahaha.

Now that I'm not sharing time with volleyball, I'm focused more on softball.
Our captain/manager decided to step down for fall ball and no one offered to take over for the team. Then I got a text from our short stop, Nic, asking if I would be willing to take over so we can keep KCCO together. I agreed. I have no idea what I'm doing but everyone offered to help however they can.
To be honest, I'm kind of afraid of softball ending for me because it's something I've done every single summer since I was 8 years old, I'm not ready to give it up. This is my only team right now and with all these new ladies coming up from high school & college, I know that if our team ends, I probably won't get picked up by another team.
I was beyond thrilled to have Hailee come play a few games with us since she came home from college.
◈ Hailee is such a wonderful person in my children's lives and I'm thankful for her! We truly love making memories with her and having her home from college for the summer!
◈We took our first of many bikes rides on the evening of June 5th. Zeplin rode his bike the entire way to the library and back, while Arrowlyn enjoyed being pulled around in the bike buggy. We rode to the library and back. It was interesting on the way there because Zeplin was afraid of falling and would constantly get off his bike and whine. But as soon as he took his first fall and realized it wasn't that bad, he gained al title more confidence, "locking in his speed boost" and took off. He continued to have a few more falls - a couple of them I was sure he was going to cry but he popped up and said he was okay and "My speed boost just wasn't tight enough. I went too fast for it." It was hilarious!

I loaded up on new books from the library and found the perfect one that had a page about slugs. After reading the book I remembered that I found some slugs by my zucchini plant. Zeplin and I found one and decided to show it to Arrowlyn, who wasn't pleased. She yelled YUCK YUCK at us. Zeplin wouldn't have anything to do with it and wouldn't even touch it.
We also went to the library just about every single day this month. Arrowlyn loves going and dancing to the sing a longs and Zeplin really enjoys getting new books to read.
They added a new class to their schedule which is called Sign-a-long. Arrowlyn already knows "more, food, please, thank you and milk" but we decided we could learn a few more and I could brush up on my ASL skills. (I learned sign language when I lived in Vernal and without practice, I eventually forgot most of what I learned.)
Zeplin has fallen in love with the language. He is constantly signing with me and asking to practice with the print outs that we got after class.
◈ We had a few fun times with friends.
My friend Emily came over with her husband and 3 children for a BBQ on the 9th. Her youngest Bowen, is a day younger than Arrow and he's huge! It's fun to see our children grow up and we really enjoyed getting to know their beautiful family!
On the 17th, we had our friends, the Alexander's, came over for dinner! I feel horrible that we haven't kept in touch with them over the past few months. Joyce is 6 months pregnant with a little boy. His name is Jack Henry and it was so endearing to hear her talk about him and the bond she already has with him!! Amelia and Crosby have gotten so big over the past few months. They are so tall!! I have loved catching up with them and hearing about their family changes!!
Our friends' children had birthdays. On the 25th was Hayden's birthday party and on the 26th, we celebrated Claire's birthday.
She came over early and my children were still asleep so we stayed downstairs until they woke up.
By 10am, we met up with the other 3 ladies from our pn. swimming at a local park. The last time we were all together, we were all pregnant and went to breakfast together! It's been hard getting all of us together for the past year.
◈Adam celebrated his 37th birthday with us on the 16th. I baked a cake and made a huge batch of ceviche so we could play games all night with the family. He was actually supposed to be getting married on the 17th but called if off a few weeks earlier. It's their own story so I won't talk much about it but I will say that after learning some of the reasons why it's been post poned/called off, I have felt very protective of my family, including Adam, and I just want to see him happy.
Randon celebrated his 26th birthday on the 28th. He went out of town for the weekend after his birthday but we made sure to swing by his work and give him a fun birthday gag gift.
◈ I have not been able to workout and have been "unofficially" (because I haven't done all the testing - it was suggested that I wait to do testing until we can go forward with surgery) diagnosed with Anterior Compartment Syndrome. What I thought was just shin splints has become unbearable pain in my lower leg from ankle to knee that initiated when I worked out but it got worse to where it would hurt even after climbing our stairs. It is horrible!
I started biking again though and that has been helpful for exercising and it doesn't hurt my legs as badly. I went a few weeks without going to the gym too.
◈ Fathers Day was on June 18th and we were so excited to wake up and celebrate Matt on 'his' special day! We spent the day exploring Boise... hitting up the Record Exchange, 8th & Idaho, The Grove fountains and wandered all over downtown. Afterwards, we had a quick ice cream treat, came home, ate dinner, swam in the pool and then went for a bike ride. We went to bed feeling exhausted and happy.
We gifted this amazing man with a new vinyl record player that also plays cd's, cassettes, radio and input from an iPod. Zeplin got him some cool stuff that turns camp fires into colors and a T-shirt. Arrowlyn and Zeplin both 'came together' and got Matt a keychain that was personalized and says, "Daddy. A son's first hero. A daughters first love. Love, Arrowlyn & Zeplin"
◈ On the 20th we took my mom our to Sandy Point, Lucky Peak Lake to spend the first day of summer with my kiddos as we enjoyed the warmest day of the week! The water was fantastic and warm. We loved it so much. Arrowlyn spent a long time on the shore with my mom as they dug in the sand and filled their bucket. Zeplin and I waded through the water with our new alligator floater. Eventually we headed to shore to attempt building sand castles.
By 3pm, we were pooped and headed home. But first we drove past the Esther Simplot Water Park so my mom could see what all the fuss was about it. .. We will have to take her again next time when we have more time and aren't so exhausted. ... and when it's not blocked off because of E.Coli because the following day they tested it and it came back with high levels of such. Yuck!
I went back on Thursday the 29th with a friend, Courtney, and children. It was fun to get to know her and her family more!!
◈ I had two uncles (neither of them I knew well, if at all) pass away on the same day (June 14th).
My mom's sister, Karey's husband, Bob, passed away in Utah. My mom went by herself to the funeral. Her brother, Tracy, came up from California to be there too. It was a quick trip to be there for their sister.
Mom was home by that following Monday and went to the luncheon for my Aunt Carolyn's husband, Herb. My aunt Carolyn is my father's brother's ex wife but she's been as much my aunt as if she were my parents own sister! All 6 of her children, who live all over the country, came to Boise to be of support to their mother and I was thankful to get to be there.
◈ We've been enjoying lots of splash pad adventures, long days on the trampoline, moments with grandparents, friends and each other.
◈ We experienced a few fun Alive After 5 concerts in BoDo this month. The kids loved spending time at the Grove fountains and Arrowlyn especially loved the music.
I love that Boise offers these free concerts.
I told Matt while we enjoyed dinner on the Grove that I really wanted these moments to be thing that our children remember and look forward to every summer.
Looking forward to July!!
