Saturday morning came early as we needed to drive 45 minutes to Sandy by 9am to meet up with our friends, the Puccetti family, at Hogle Zoo.It was a beautiful day and our kids were so excited to see the animals that we hadn't ever seen.
And I was so excited to see my friend Nicole.
A zoo is a zoo is a zoo but having been my first time at Hogle, I was very impressed. I loved seeing the baby animals, especially the baby zebra when it chased a giraffe. We also loved the gorillas. We were shocked to see the wolf being fed by a trainer and were even more when we learned that they feed them horse meat instead of cow because it's leaner.
Arrowlyn loved it and I think she enjoyed it with new eyes now that she walks and could run to the animals she wanted to see. Some of them were scary - like the lion sitting up against the glass but some them were exciting like the gorilla laying down.
We got to watch an elephant show and enjoyed learning how they train their elephants. We also loved watching the bird show. They were magnificent and we were in awe of them.
The three hours went by so fast and I wish we had more time with my friend but both sets of our littles were getting grumpy and was really hot outside.
