On October 17th, I met my friend, Tara, at her friends house to meet her kitties. We opened the garage and the mommy was sitting peacefully and eventually walked over to us. Arrowlyn rushed to her and tried petting her which she gladly accepted.
We wandered around the garage looking for the kitten when I heard the faintest meow and looked over to see the tiniest, cutest little orange kitten. Of course all baby animals are cute but he was so adorable!!
Arrowlyn rushed to me with her arms wide open, grabbed this poor kitten from my hands and I didn't get to hold him again until it was time to leave.
The way the kitten just chilled in my daughters arms and the way she handled him - I just knew it was meant to be!! I could not stop laughing when Tara's kids were asking to see the kitten so Arrowlyn walks over to their car and pulls him our from under her arm and lifts him up to see the kids. I couldn't stop laughing. Little did I know it was going to be the first of many times this poor kitten was going to be slightly strangled by my daughter.
Arrowlyn hated to let anyone hold her new Kitty Kitty! She even pushed my hand away once when I was trying to help her.
We went to pick up Zeplin from school and he was elated to have a kitten!! He's been in love with him ever since!
It took over a week to finally come up with a name. We tried Cornell, Treznor, Reznor, Felix, Tommy and eventually we all agreed on Oliver from the disney movie, Oliver and Company.
Oliver has been the perfect addition to our family. He is so sweet yet feisty. He loves to play but loves to cuddle. Arrowlyn is kind of rough with him but she's getting better. She used to throw him all the time but started slowly putting him in the ground when she's done holding him. Now if we could just get her to stop carrying him around the neck! Poor kitty.
Zeplin thinks he's the greatest thing ever. He loves to cuddle with him but things it's a lot of fun to get him to play with his toys. Oliver loves to climb into Zeplin's club house. It's cute! We actually caught the two of them playing in Zeplin's room one night when Z was supposed to be going to bed.
Matt loves him - though he won't openly admit it. At least once a night, Matt will bring up how neat of a kitty Oliver it. And how surprised he is with his demeanor and personality.
I've been shocked at how well he fits in with our dogs and kids. He doesn't attack, he doesn't throw fits. He's simply fantastic. He cries a lot though - which is annoying but cute. Oliver also sleeps with me and although it's cute, it makes it rough to sleep but I really don't mind.
So here we are again, another animal in the family to call ours.... or should we call him Arrowlyn's.
