Stellaluna

Stars aligned and the moon shined brightest when this sweet girl came into our lives.
Our sweetest new member of the family, Stellaluna, is a dream come true. I've always wanted a french bulldog. I mean, seriously, those ears and that snorting nose!!! I'm in love!!!

Basically what happened was a friend posted 2 adorable french bulldogs for sale from a lady in Homedale. They were much cheaper than most franchise (from a reputable breeder, they won't cost less than $3000. These babies were $1700). Matt and I have been saving a little here and there for a Frenchie but haven't been able to pull the trigger.
When I saw the puppies online, I decided to ask my friend, Kristin, what she thought of having a french bulldog and what to be concerned about in owning one and not getting one from a reputable breeder.  She shared that of all their dogs, they loved having a french bulldog - especially with their kids!! We chatted for awhile and in a round about way, she made the comment that she and her husband had playfully decided to rehome their 3yo French Bulldog, Stella and said, "We've been praying that she goes to a family like yours! She deserves adventures and attention, two things that we just can't give her right now."
I was all alone and started screaming!!! Matt came home and I told him about the amazing opportunity we've been offered. Without hesitation, Matt said, "Well, let's go get her!!" I could have cried!! I sent Kristin a message and told her we'd be honored to take their sweet little girl and give her a home!!

We had to wait a couple days (which felt like forever) hahaha. Her husband was out of town and since they got her as a couple when she was a baby, it was only right for him to be around to say goodbye.

So Wednesday afternoon, we loaded up and drove to their house to be greeted by my friends entire family and sweet little Stella. Matt had instant stars in his eyes!
We stayed at their place for a bit to get to know Stella and catch up with my friend.

We wrote her a check, loaded Stella up and were on our way with our sweet baby girl. She sat on my lap the entire time. Zeplin was desperate to snuggle her. We had to talk with him about what to expect for the next week as she acclimates to our schedules and the rest of the animals, (which included him and Arrowlyn).

Later that evening, Kristin sent me a message about how we were an answer to their prayers and how excited they were for Stella to be in a family that will love her forever!! Then she dropped a bomb on us that they decided to rip up the check we gave them. I started bawling!! Ugly, but humble cries! Matt even got a little emotional and we hugged Stella and each other tightly knowing that God is real and He heard their prayers and knew us and our dreams!!

We've had her for a couple days now and it's like she's been in our family forever!! She's calm, loving, obedient and funny!! She's eager to play with Bella and Mr Tedd but we've been keeping them separated, only allowing them to get to know each other through the dog gate. She's been respectful of Bella. You can tell there is a hierarchy and Bella is 100% the matriarch of this little puppy tribe we've created. Both Bella and Tedd are going blind so it's been an adjustment for them. . .

Stellaluna and I have been sleeping upstairs while everyone else sleeps in their normal places. We don't want our dogs to feel like they're being pushed outside while Stella takes over.

Stellaluna turns 4 on October 30th and we can't wait to give her a party! She is pure bred and full AKC. She's also not spayed so we've had a few people ask if we'd be willing to breed her. My heart hurts over the idea but I told Matt that if he wanted to breed her then it would be up to him and not me. It gives me anxiety.
With that being said, we both agreed that we are going to put her through training to potentially be an Emotional Support Animal for me when I have my panic/anxiety attacks.
