It started with blowing out my knee and having surgery. Then all our date nights, anniversaries and my birthday was terrible. We learned Arrowlyn had nurses maid elbow and Zeplin has an astigmatism. One particular date night was the night we found out about Grandma Joan's passing. All summer was one thing after another of bad news, bad days and bad luck. We blew out our tires a couple times while camping and had to buy all new tires! As fall started, we thought maybe we were going to be on the up and up, physically, financially and emotionally. Then I had my allergic reaction to Sulfa drugs. My ectopic pregnancy was like the icing on the cake for this terrible year!!
So, as I've been busy sulking over what I've hated about this year, I decided to talk to my kids and husband to see what their thoughts were about 2018.
Matt felt like this year had been a roller coaster. "It could have been so much worse."
Matt got a HUGE trophy buck this hunting season. He finished his street bike, building it from bottom to top. Matt finally got a truck (at the expense of our Jeep.)
Zeplin had the best year of all of us. He loved soccer and did so well. He was an amazing student in preschool and is really enjoying Kindergarten. He lost a couple teeth. Zeplin learned how to ride a bike!! He said camping, hunting and hiking were his favorite moments.
Arrowlyn caught her first fish this year and her picture is officially on our wall of 'trophy fish.'
She graduated to a big girl bed and is officially a big girl with her potty training. Arrow got to swim and swim and swim. She said she loved kayaking and playing with her brother.
Okay, okay, things weren't too bad for me either! I went to a handful of concerts, and only one of them was terrible. While I was down - I got to watch my children grow and become more independent. I watched them play and learn to have fun with each other. I chopped off all my long hair and actually really loved it!! We camped, swam and spent time with friends!! I also got to see a bunch of my cousins, including my aunt and uncle from California that I haven't seen since my Grandma LaMona passed 7 years ago.
I got my dream breed of dog - StellaLuna the frenchie. I went to Lagoon and Bear Lake with my bestie!! We also still have our Bella girl and Teddi Bear.
All in all, Matt was right, this was a roller coaster of a year. I really need a year to redeem those crappy moments from the year!!
2019, I'm rooting for you. I'm praying ever so greatly for a year with more happiness than sadness. Financial security instead of paycheck to paycheck, even with all our new medical bills. Here's to new better experiences full of love and excitement!
