QUARANTINE CRAZIES - {Spring Break edition}

I don't know what we call this season of life.... Quarantine, social distancing, isolation??  Regardless, we decided to follow the advice of our government leaders and stay home.

I'm doing okay. I'm trying to stay away from the news for anxiety purposes but I do want to be informed so I've watched the Governor's interviews but I don't follow the world stats anymore. My kids seems so matter of fact about it and they're so great. Zeplin knows he's doing home school for the next month and that neither of the kids are allowed out of the car if I have to run into a store for something. We basically just stay home.

Before the order, we were invited to our friends, the Menz', house for a little dinner and visit. We laughed and chatted for a couple hours before heading home, feeling refreshed. Except for the time when Matt scared me half to death. I was in the bathroom washing my hands when I saw the doorknob moving to (what I thought was their linen) closet. But it was a door to an extra bedroom.

  • It's been pretty cold outside but whenever we get a burst of warmth, we rush outside to enjoy it.

  • Matt has been in charge of doing science projects with the kids. The first project he did with them was a glow in the dark lotion. He put it all over their faces and hands and we giggled over  it while it lasted.

  • I did a painting video with the kids and we loved it. We have our bunnies all hanging on the mantle for everyone to see! Zeplin struggled to follow directions but he chose to do a dragon fly on the bunny's nose instead of a flower. Arrowlyn did an excellent job, until the end when she put weird blue whiskers on her bunny.

  • I downloaded ABC mouse for the kids so every day they've been working on those activities. We've also been going to the elementary school every day for lunch. Instead of going in to get your lunch, we have to drive by, grab our bags out the window and go home to eat. While we drive, we've been listing to the rest of the Narnia series. We've made it through all but the last 2 books. Zeplin loves them. He asks if we can stay in the car and listen longer every single time!

  • We've been trying to stay occupied by pulling out a bunch of games and activities that we don't usually play. Zeplin got an awesome wire obstacle course game from his best friend Cooper for his birthday. We've play it a few times but this was an absolutely blast. Also, Zeplin got to video call Cooper and chat with him for 30 minutes. It made his whole world. He loves Cooper and I know Cooper really needs a good friend like Zeplin.

  • I've been trying to keep the kid's rooms clean since we are home all the time. Its not easy but they do a pretty good job. Arrowlyn experienced the pain of stepping on a lego and that was a final straw for wanting a clean room. Zeplin hates seeing me upset, so that's his only motivation for a clean room.

  • As for me, I've been spending 3-5hrs a day painting my entire house. It was not easy. We have 25ft ceilings in the living room and 40ft ceilings in the entry way. I'm a little stressed about the entry way but I'm excited to finish the front room. It's take 5 gallons of paint but it's looking so great!

  • Even though 90% of state employees get to go home for work, Matt isn't one of those. They deemed his role critical so he's at work every single day. I'm proud of him for the dedication to his role but it would be great if he could work from home. I bought myself an air fryer and I tell ya what... it's the best purchase I've made in awhile.
