Simple September

I did not do a good job of keeping September organized. We had our vacation at the end of the month and it threw me completely off for pictures and blogging.

BUT
What a great month we've had!
The kids are in school, we have a couple vacations and I finally feel like we might have a grip on our "new normal."

Not a big deal, but exciting for me, I got a new tattoo. Someone I knew through others in high school had an opening and I'd had some ideas for a tattoo for a long time. I wanted something to honor my family and the babies I've lost and decided on a pretty little bouquet of flowers. I chose all the flowers from the birth months of my family; violets for Arrow, poinsettias for Matt and Zeplin, and lily of the valley for me. I was just going to have it be black lines but opted to having color when I realized my daughters favorite color is purple and Zeplin's is red, both of which match their flowers. I'm really happy with it!

We started our month with a few trips to Roaring Springs before the finally closed down the park for the season.

We had a few fun changes, the most notable one included a new job for me. I am an 8th grade volleyball coach for a school in Boise. It was super exciting and I was thrilled to be coaching again. I swore I would never coach again after 2015 softball but I think coaching basic volleyball skills for younger kiddos might be more up my ally. It was a short season and a lot of driving but I really enjoyed myself and the time spent on the court.

My own volleyball league started and its been great fun - as it usually is. We all got together and made our  own shirts for the season, which was an absolute blast too.

Also for me, I initiated and facilitated a weight loss challenge among 10 other ladies and myself. I kinda took from other challenges I'd done in the past and created my own little program. Since I was a participant in the challenge, Matt took over the weight loss %, points system and payouts. We started August 31st and ended September 21st and I couldn't be happier with the results from all of us! I won the whole shebang with -13pounds in 21 days!

During Arrowlyn's first day of 'quasi' school, Zeplin and I dropped her off together then decided to go hiking. It was unbearable so we didn't stay out for long but for the short time we were outside, we laughed and really enjoyed each other. He's such a fun kid. I love spending one on one time with him.

My mom came over to watch Mulan with my kids and have a little sleep over with them too. They were so happy to have her over and wanted her to stay the night every night because we all had so much fun.

Some friends of our invited us to Idaho City (Beaver Creek) to camp with them. Unfortunately we couldn't camp but we decided to go up and spend the day with them. It was great fun but way too hot up there. The kids had a good time playing in the water and making new friends. Arrow slept hard on the way home. Zeplin talked the whole time.... He's an eager earful!

Arrowlyn woke up one morning after getting home from Cascade and couldn't use her leg. She was in such horrible pain that it scared Matt and I. We got her an appointment and she was diagnosed with Transient Synovitis. Thankfully it only lasted 48 hours but it was terrifying!

Matt started making long bows for fun! They're actually really beautiful and he's even made/sold a few too.

A highlight for me was a weekly retreat in McCall with a handful of women from church. Actually it was like 50-60 women and we had a great time. I met some new people and cried a lot. There were a few unwelcome moments but a lot of great times with women I didn't know before then. Kira and I spent our 'break' in McCall and just had a blast together! I love that she and I have reunited and become friends again!

Sunday morning, David (Kira's husband) picked my family and they all drove up from Boise to pick us up. We spent the afternoon in Cascade at the lake. The kids climbed rocks and caught minnows while we visited and enjoyed each other's company. It was a great end to the weekend.
